How to become and association

Procedures:

Organization Recognition and Management:

All Associations must obtain official recognition.  Associations apply through the Association's Coordinator office.  That office is located in Kiball 270B.  Organizations not meeting the definition of an Association may be referred to the Activities Program or Academic office when appropriate.

Statement of Purpose:

Associations must have a clearly stated purpose which includes the following information:

(1) official name; (2) mission statement and objectives; (3) statement of commitment; and

(4) organization and officers.

Membership:

A current membership per semester must be submitted with at least six members in addition to the President of the Association.  Associations must be open to any student who has an interest in the purpose for which the Association exists.

Annual Operating Plan:

Associations must submit a Registration Form each semester.  Additional information should include: proposed schedule of events, brief description of intended activities, and proposed  budget for each intended event or activity.

To Apply for Recognition:

To apply for recognition, set up an appointment with the Associations Coordinator, currently Sean Tippetts, by emailing tippettss@byui.edu and indicate that you would like an appointment to discuss your desire to create a new association.  The Coordinator will contact you about a time to meet.

Registration Requirement

Each association must re-register at the beginning of each semester.  This is accomplished by filling out the Registration Form found by using the link on the left side of the page and submitting it to Kimball 270B.
