1950s
Paul Dee Payne
’59 and his wife Arlene have served four missions for the Church,
three in Nigeria and one in the isles off Madagascar. They are currently
serving in the Timpanogas Temple. Paul ranched and taught high school in
Canada prior to teaching at BYU. They are the parents of four children and
live in Orem, Utah.
1960s
Linda Anne McBride
Taala ’67 is a senior accountant for Questar Regulated Services in
Salt Lake City, Utah. She taught mathematics at the Church College of
Western Samoa in Pesega, Western Samoa. She graduated from the University of
Phoenix with an mba
in May 2003. Linda and her husband Frederick recently celebrated their 25th
wedding anniversary. They are the parents of two sons, and live in
Taylorsville, Utah.
1970s
Brian Judd ’77
is a Learjet demonstration pilot for prospective clients around the world.
He has flown for freight, corporate, and air ambulance companies. Brian and
his wife Janette have three children and live in Wichita, Kan.
1980s
Marsha
Grover Steed ’80 is a commissioner on the Placer County Cultural Arts
Commission. Marsha does extensive work in the arts in her community. She
recently returned from singing at Carnegie Hall in New York with the
Sacramento Choral Society. She has four children.
Eric J.
Bergman ’82 of Kalispell, Mont., has been awarded his 30th U.S. Patent
in semiconductor processing technology. His most recent patent recognizes an
invention currently used in the industry which has eliminated the use of
thousands of gallons of sulfuric acid annually, replacing it with
environmentally friendly ozone and water. He is a staff engineer at Semitool,
Inc.
Aaron Young ’82
has just been elected as a board member for Portland Center Stage Theater
Live. He is also ceo
of Laughlin International, Inc. He lives in Clackamas, Ore.
Don C. Matson ’83
has been serving as the planning and redevelopment director for the city of
Mesquite, Nev., since June 2002. He is the president of Western Planning
Resources, Inc., a non-profit group that publishes The Western Planner, a regional magazine and journal for planning
commissioners and professional planners throughout the West. He lives in
Mesquite with his wife Clara and their three children.
Brian Keith Welch
’86
is pursuing certification as an it Master Web Designer. He is a scholarship
recipient from Tech Skills of Nashville and a Quixtar, Inc., affiliated
Independent Business Owner.
Mary “Libby” Wright Burke ’87 is stationed with her husband Captain Joe Burke, usmc,
in Seoul, South Korea. She is teaching English at an elementary school in
Kao Po-Dong and is continuing her education in criminal justice after
serving seven years in the Army.
Evan C. ’87 and Kimberlee Anderson Wirig ’86
are the parents of four children and live in El Cajon, Calif. Evan serves as
chair of the media communication department at Grossmont College as well as
the general manager of the campus radio station.
1990s
David ’91 and
Julie Hornbeck Sintay ’87 are the parents of three children and live
in La Grande, Ore. After 15 years in the business world, David is now a
full-time student at Eastern Oregon University with hopes of teaching music
and theatre in a high school after graduation.
Casey P. McMurray
’92 received his master of arts in education from San Jose State
University and is teaching Spanish at Milpitas High School. He and his wife
Eldy were married in the Guatemala City Temple July 6, 2000. They have one
child.
Curtis C. Sandy
’92 received his m.d.
from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., in 2000. He is an
emergency medicine physician at the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello,
Idaho. He served on the Board of Directors of the Emergency Medicine
Residents’ Association, was the aeromedical and academic chief resident in
2002-2003 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, and was a flight
physician with Toledo LifeFlight and MetroHealth LifeFlight in Cleveland,
Ohio.
Mike Uhrich ’93
was recently selected as vice president of asset management at Sperry Van
Ness Commercial Real Estate Investments. He lives in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Kerry Dion Brown
LLC ’95 is an attorney at a general practice firm, where his primary
practice areas are personal injury, criminal defense, and class action. He
and his wife are the parents of two children and live in LaPlace, La.
Krista Johnson
McCarthy ’95 graduated from BYU in 2000 and is an elementary school
teacher. Krista and her husband Michael live in Castro Valley, Calif.
Brae Lin McDougald
’95 received a bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and
disorders from the University of Utah in 2001. She is in a master’s
program in audiology at the University of Texas at Austin.
Robert Alan Carr
’96 received his bachelor of science in dietetics from Utah State
University and is a sales associate for Food Services of America. He and his
wife Tammy are the parents of two children. They live in Brigham City, Utah.
Mike Alan Buis
’97 graduated from Arizona State University with a master of science
in information management. He is learning commercial real estate appraising.

is returning to asu
to complete her degree in photography. They have two children and live in
Casa Grande, Ariz.
Joel Brian Mundt
’98 works for Wagstaff Inc. as a manufacturing engineer after
graduating with his master’s in manufacturing engineering from BYU in
April 2002. He and his wife Melanie
Melissa Barber ’97 have three children, including a set of twins. They
live in Post Falls, Idaho.
David N. Roth ’98
graduated summa cum laude in 2000 from American University with a degree in
international studies. He received a full fellowship to the masters in
public policy program at the University of Massachusetts. David and his wife
Julie have two children and reside in Superior, Wis.
Hyrum Erickson
’99 is currently the legislative correspondent on the staff of the
Special Committee on Aging under chairman Senator Larry Craig (Idaho). Hyrum
recently married and graduated from BYU with a degree in international
relations and a minor in Latin America studies.
2000s
Larry Calvin ’00 and
Prairie Ellen Burk Daugherty ’00
graduated in June of 2002 from Albertson College of Idaho. His degree is in
history, and hers in education. Larry worked as a paramedic in Meriden,
Conn., where they lived prior to his being accepted to the University of
Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City, Utah. They have two children.
Peter ’00 and
Christi Scrivner Leman ’98 both graduated summa cum laude from the
University of Idaho. Peter received degrees in English and philosophy, and
Christi a degree in music composition.
