Did you love the time you spent at Ricks College and/or BYU–Idaho? Do you often find yourself reflecting back on your days in Rexburg? Have you ever encouraged a student to attend BYU–Idaho? Are you convinced the school is heading in the right direction?  

If so, you share many of the insights and feelings of over 200 BYU–Idaho Alumni Ambassadors currently serving throughout the United States and Canada. Our Ambassadors are alumni who feel passionately about the legacy of Ricks College and the future of BYU–Idaho. They encourage alumni, parents, friends, and students to discover or rekindle the “Spirit of Ricks.” Ambassadors are literally our eyes and ears as they:

1.  Represent BYU–Idaho in their local area

2.  Tell the BYU–Idaho story

3. Encourage prospective students to consider BYU-Idaho

4. Share news of local alumni with the university and the Alumni Association (awards, marriages, promotions, anniversaries, deaths. etc.)

5. Help identify local internship and employment opportunities for current students.

6. Inform BYU–Idaho of questions and concerns alumni and others may have about the university.

For example, our Ambassadors recently identified two newly admitted students who had unique and special needs. Because of this advanced notice, on-campus entities such as Financial Aid were able to personally help these students even before they arrived on campus. Additionally, many students were encouraged to apply for the Regional Alumni Scholarship (an award for new freshman who are children of alumni). Last year over 50 students received this scholarship.

The Alumni Association expresses a special thanks to our many volunteers who serve as local Alumni Ambassadors. Each day reaffirms how valuable they are as we strive to stay better connected with our alumni and bless the lives of our students.
