1950s
Reed Moss ’50 was awarded the 2003 Idaho State Bar Professionalism award for the 7th Judicial District Bar Association. He and his wife Elizabeth have seven children and 23 grandchildren.

1970s
Blaine McInelly ’74 received the 2004 Outstanding Secondary School Principal–High School Award from the Idaho Association of Secondary School Principals. He will represent Idaho at a national leadership program this fall in Washington, D.C. Blaine is the principal of Teton High School in Driggs, Idaho.

Douglas Stever ’74 has worked for the past 17 years as a correctional officer at Folsom State Prison. He and his wife Cindy have seven children and three grandchildren.

Val D. Camp ’78 recently purchased Strathcona Vision Centre, an optometry office in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry in 1987. He and his wife Debbie have three children.

1980s
Mario Jane ’80 lived in Mexico for 20 years after attending Ricks. He finished his education in Mexico and returned to the United States with his family in 2000. He is a certified bilingual teacher in Houston, Tex. He and his wife have six children.

Tracy Duane Gilchrist ’81 works for the U.S. Health Department and is on loan to the U.S. Parks Department in Petaluma, Calif. Tracy and his wife have a son. They recently completed restoration of a lighthouse.

Dan Hilbert ’81 will graduate in June from the University of Tulsa with degrees in Spanish and education. Dan and his wife Felisa have three children and live in Broken Arrow, Okla.

Sonia Smith Stone ’83 is a substitute teacher and her husband Rob is an accounts officer at First National Bank of Pinedale. They live in Big Piney, Wyo., and have four children.

Lowell Magneson ’84 is the founder of TheCDPros, a full-service media provider specializing in CDs for music and software markets. Lowell and his wife Denise have four children and live in American Fork, Utah.

Brian C. Briggs ’89 and family recently moved from Henderson, Nev., to Boise, Idaho. Brian has been married since 1988 to Dana Masterson ’88. They have three daughters. Brian works at Hewlett-Packard in Boise as a software test engineer.

Justin Jones ’89 is Utah Transit Authority’s media relations specialist. He is responsible for all media relations activity and is UTA’s primary spokesperson.

Karen Schultz ’89 was crowned Ms. United Nation in its most recent pageant at Hollywood, Calif. Representing the state of Texas, Karen’s platform is on building self-esteem through community service. The Ms. division includes married, widowed, and divorced women—denoting that women in all circumstances have meaningful opportunities to serve.

1990s
G. Tadj Hemingway ’93 is a freelance Web, graphic, and video designer. He is a volunteer member of the National Ski Patrol at Pine Knob. He and his wife Natalie live in Eastpointe, Mich., and are expecting their first child.

Kirk Alan ’93 and Jackie Shirlene Pugmire Rawlins ’93 are the parents of four children and live in Springville, Utah. Kirk recently started an interactive media company. Jackie founded her own company, ‘Ohana Swimwear, specializing in modest swimsuits for women.

James Emanuel ’94 and Jessica Hobbs Schmidt ’93 live in Pinedale, Wyo. James graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Weber State University and is a deputy sheriff in Sublette County. He was assigned to active duty with the 4th ID of the U.S. Army in Tikrit, Iraq.

William Bannon ’94 and Michelle Wray Joyce ’95 were married December 20, 2003. Michelle currently teaches English at Roosevelt Junior High School in Roosevelt, Utah.

John David McGroarty ’95 has been a championship-level director for the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America and a certified judge for collegiate a cappella competitions. He directs the local production of the Messiah. He and his wife Elsa live in Tooele, Utah, and have two children.

Connie Gay Sims Taylor ’95 is the office manager for Jensen’s Alterations in Logan, Utah. She graduated from Utah State University in 2000. Connie and her husband Ryan live in Logan.

Chris ’96 and Becky Williams LeBaron ’96 have four sons and live in Wallkill, N.Y. Chris is a technical sales consultant for Open Text Corporation. He interfaces on behalf of the software company with several account executives in the Northeast.

Leanna Lorraine Mason ’96 is a merchandiser for General Mills-Military Sales in Tacoma, Wash. In addition, she runs a business from her home in Fircrest, Wash., called Rainbow Carnival Games, Laser Tag, and Karaoke Rentals.

Greg Belliston ’98 is working in Provo, Utah, as an investment counselor and representative of CNBC.

2000s
Jason Tolman ’02 works as a building consultant for America’s Home Place, a consulting company covering the southeastern states. He and his wife Theresa live in Dalton, Ga.

David Burgoyne ’02 has matriculated to the Doctor of Chiropractic Program at Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Mo.

Jeremy Gauruder ’03 has matriculated to the Doctor of Chiropractic Program at Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Mo.

In Memorium
Alumni who were killed in Iraq

U.S. Army Capt. James Shull ’94 was killed Nov. 17, 2003, in Baghdad, Iraq, from non-hostile gunshot wounds. James served in the Army’s Third Brigade 1st Armored Division. He was 32 years old. Raised in Kirkland, Wash., James attended Washington State University and then joined the Army in 1996. James leaves behind his wife Alice ’94 and three children.

 Lt. Nathan D. White ’92 was killed April 2, 2003, in Iraq while flying his F/A-18 C Hornet. He was hit by a Patriot missile during a friendly-fire incident over Iraq. Nathan flew with the Strike Fighter Squadron 195. He was 30 years old. Nathan was raised in Abilene, Tex. He graduated from BYU and was accepted into law schools at BYU and the University of Texas prior to joining the Navy. Nathan leaves behind his wife Akiko and three children.

 Employees who have passed away

Richard F. Luke ’68, a teacher in the Department of Information Systems, passed away Jan. 8, 2004, after complications from cancer. He was 58 years old. He started teaching at Ricks College in 1981. His love for his students and his love for teaching was noticed by all who knew him. Faculty members in the computer sciences have been contributing to the Together For Greatness Fund for scholarships that go to three deserving computer science students. After Richard’s death the fund was renamed the Richard Luke Memorial Fund. Richard is survived by his wife Lola Ann, four children, and five grandchildren.

Ronald J. Stone, former supervisor of construction at Ricks College, passed away Oct. 23, 2003, in Victor, Idaho. He was 84 years old. Ronald served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II and was captured as a prisoner of war. He later received a Silver Star for his experiences. He came to Ricks College in 1962 and supervised the construction of new buildings. He retired in 1984. His first wife Iola died in 1979 and his second wife Judy died in 1996. He is survived by a son, two daughters, 18 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandson.
