Here is our tour tentative itinerary for 2008:

Day 1, Monday:  Today we will fly from Salt Lake City to Cancun and take a short bus ride to Valladolid.  We will have the evening to relax and enjoy the activities in the Valladolid town square.

Day 2, Tuesday:  Today we will  visit the famous ruins of Chichen-Itza with an LDS tour guide and swim at Cenote Ik Kil.

Day 3, Wednesday:  Today we will visit the recently excavated ruins of Ek-Balam which features stunning murals, statues, and carvings.  In the afternoon we will swim in an underground Cenote Dzitnup and visit a local village.

Day 4, Thursday:  On this day we will leave Valladolid and spend a relaxing day at the ancient ruins of Tulum.  This stunning archeological site sits on the coast of the Caribbean Sea and we will have time to explore, relax, and swim in the ocean.  We will then head for Chetumal, near the Belize border.

Day 5, Friday:  Today we visit the expansive ruins of Dzibanche, Kohunlich, and Kinichna.  These sites are in close proximity to each other and are older than the ruins seen earlier on the tour.  Located in lush tropical jungles these sites feature unique carvings, towering pyramids, and ancient tombs.

Day 6, Saturday:  On this day we will venture into Belize where we will visit the Mayan ruins of Lamanai.  After a short bus ride we will get on boats that will take us upriver to these ruins, which also sit in a lush jungle full of howler monkeys and other wildlife.

Day 7, Sunday:  Today we will attend Church in Chetumal and take a leisure tour up the Yucatan coast.  We will make stops at Lake Bacalar and Cenote Azul. That evening we will arrive in Playa del Carmen.

Day 8, Monday:  This will be a free day to explore Playa, or take a short ferry ride to Cozumel  where you can snorkel, dive, parasail, take a jeep ride through the jungle, or just relax on the beach.

Day 9, Tuesday:  Today will be another free day to enjoy this Caribbean paradise.

Day 10, Wednesday:  Today we enjoy more of Playa Del Carmen before our flight home from Cancun to Salt Lake City, Utah.

Underground Cenotes

One of the unique features we will see on this tour are underground cenotes, or fresh water pools.  Our guests will have a chance to explore these beautiful natural sites, and even take refreshing swim should they choose.
