Planned tour stops and attractions are highlighted below:

Comalcalco is the only discovered Mayan site which is built with hand made adobe bricks, covered with thick stucco.   The museum there has many very interesting artifacts.  After spending some time at Comalcalco we will drive a short distance to the Cholula chocolate plantation.  Here we will tour the hacienda and sample some delicious pure chocolate which has been made from the cacao beans grown right at the site.

Comalcalco

Palenque is a Mayan archeological site near the Usumacinta River in Chiapas.  It is a medium-sized site, but it contains some of the finest architecture, sculpture, roof-comb and bas relief carvings the Maya produced.

Palenque

Tonina is a pre-Columbian Mayan city near the Chiapas city of Ocosingo. The site is medium to large, with groups of temple-pyramids, the largest being some 250 feet high, a large ball court, and over 100 carved monuments, most dating from the Mayan Classic Era.

Misol Ha is a spectacular 115 feet waterfall that has been labeled a must see for visitors to the Palenque Chiapas region.

Misol Ha

Agua Clara is a stunning turquoise river which opens into a lake. Our guests will walk over the swinging bridge for an exciting trip across the crystal blue water.  There is also the option take a short spin on a homemade raft.

Agua Clara

Agua Azul is a place of surreal beauty, where translucent blue water cascades over travertine flowstone that has built up here for thousands of years. Seasonally a torrent of rainwater gushes through nearby limestone mountain caves, dissolving the rock and carrying the calcium downstream. As if by magic, it's then re-deposited as travertine on almost anything it touches. As the ages pass the deposits layer into these fantastic shapes that look like frozen waterfalls with liquid blue water spilling over them.

Agua Azul

Bonampak is a fascinating Mayan site where the Lacandones Indians still reside. These ruins are well-known for a number of murals, most especially those located within the Temple of the Murals. The construction of the site’s structures dates to the Early Classic period.

Bonampak

Yaxchilan is a set of Mayan ruins located on the Usumacinta River, which is the border between Mexico and Guatemala.  Our guests will board longboats and enjoy a scenic river ride to these ruins. Yaxchilan is known for the large quantity of excellent sculpture at the site, such as the monolithic carved stelas and the narrative stone reliefs carved on the lintels spanning the temple doorways.

Yaxchilan

Parque La Venta is a beautiful park in Villahermosa created to house the fabulous Olmec carvings which were taken from the original site of La Venta, 90 miles to the west of the city.

A visit to the Villahermosa LDS Temple will be an option for our guests.
