Major to Career: Architectural Technology

In this program, you will learn to apply technical skills to develop working drawings and electronic simulations for architectural and related construction projects. This program includes instruction in basic construction and structural design, architectural rendering, architectural-aided drafting (CAD), layout and designs, architectural blueprint interpretation, building materials, and basic structural wiring diagramming.

The architecture major combines courses in the liberal arts and sciences with architecture. Along with technical and design skills, archetects must understand the culture they work in (humanities), the physical world (physical sciences), and human relations (social sciences). They must also be familiar with the history of art and architecture.

Be interested in design with computers; have good form perception and be able to visualize a product from a verbal or written description; be able to plan your work, think logically, and meet deadlines even during stressful periods; be able to work well alone or with a team
