This is a remarkable time to be a part of Brigham Young University–Idaho. With each new day, students here continue onward in a steady upward course, drawing closer to the Lord both collectively and individually. As BYU–Idaho strives to help each student continue in this exciting process of personal growth, education, and discovery, there is much that you as Ricks College/BYU–Idaho alumni can do to help new and prospective BYU–Idaho students prepare for the experiences they will have here in Rexburg.
A few key resources will help you and the students you work with find easy access to answers, policies, and other frequent topics of interest related to preparation for BYU–Idaho. These include:
- BYU–Idaho’s Get Prepared Web site: www.byui.edu/prepare This site has been prepared specifically with prospective students in mind. As you direct students to this site, they’ll find an excellent introduction to the University in terms of its history, culture, services, involvement opportunities, and more. New University initiatives and programs are also usually linked from this site.
- The BYU–Idaho Prospective Student Magazine: This viewbook-type publication is available from the BYU–Idaho Admissions Office to anyone interested. Its contents, updated each year, help prospective students understand more about BYU–Idaho’s goal to help each student become a better disciple and leader. To request a copy, contact Admissions at (208) 496-1036.
- Your BYU–Idaho representative: Each area of the United States has a designated Admissions representative. These representatives will typically be the ones to visit those areas for presentations and are desirous to continue building relationships with Ricks College/BYU–Idaho alumni and those they work with from those areas. As alumni, sharing your familiarity with prospective students and their needs can help us better help these students prepare academically, spiritually, and socially. Recommendations for scholarship assistance based on personal character and need can also be made through your area representative. Find your area representative by clicking the “BYU–Idaho Reps” link at the side of this page.
- BYU–Idaho’s mission: There is truly something different about this place. Our legendary ‘Spirit of Ricks’ atmosphere continues to flourish as BYU–Idaho develops increased opportunities for students to act instead of being acted upon both inside and outside the classroom. Innovative teaching and learning strategies continue to emerge, with more students able to participate without sacrificing the precious, close-knit atmosphere of small class sizes and intense teacher-student interaction. Woven throughout classroom discussion, personal study, and campus involvement is a consistent focus on strengthening testimonies of Jesus Christ and encouraging each student to develop Christ-like leadership as they go forth to bless the world. We thank you for your efforts to help others experience the life-changing blessing of BYU–Idaho. For more information on how you can help students prepare, please contact BYU–Idaho’s Admissions Office at (208) 496-1022.
