Speaking Partner Tutors & Promoters

BYU-Idaho Pathway English Language students from all over the world need your help to practice listening and speaking English. Not only will you be helping them progress academically, but you'll be making new friends and enjoying a wonderful cultural exchange.

Speaking partners are needed for students from Albania, Ghana, Mexico, Peru, Russia, and the U.S. All conversations are conducted in English, so there is no need to know a second language. As the students in English Language Pathway courses study, they meet with a native (or near-native) English speaker to practice speaking and listening to English in real time.

They meet online, using tools such as Skype, and discuss assigned topics that reinforce the lessons from the Pathway courses. Depending on the course, conversations last 20 to 40 minutes, twice a week
