Brief Summary of Fields:

The BYU-Idaho play fields are recreational areas on campus used for free play and often scheduled for competitive and recreational sports and other campus activities. The Sports Complex Fields, contain five artificial turf play fields.  These fields are multi-use and can be used for soccer, softball, lacrosse, and ultimate frisbee.  The Stadium Field consists of an outdoor track and an artificial turf used for football, frisbee, and soccer. The Upper Fields are natural grass and are used for campus dances, ward activities, and recreational sports including volleyball, frisbee, and flag football. The playfields are open to free play for BYU-Idaho students if not previously scheduled. To schedule a playfield please call the scheduling office at: (208) 496-3120. Map of Campus Playfields.  

Field Rules:
  • Please do not use grass fields immediately after heavy rain etc. so the fields are not damaged.
  • Please do not enter fields that have the entry gate locked.
  • BYU-Idaho dress and grooming standards apply.
  • No unauthorized vehicles allowed on track and field.
  • Fireworks or flammable materials are prohibited.
  • No food, seeds, gum or colored drinks are allowed on field.
  • No animals, golfing, or metal cleats. 
  • Fields are reserved for university use.

Sport Courts

The BYU-Idaho Center gym consists of 10 multi-use courts and are lined for Basketball, Futsal, Tennis, and Volleyball. Since there are dividing curtains to separate each space this space can be modified to accommodate virtually any activity.  Athletic equipment may be checked out for free play use. (Check below for details.) Courts (if not reserved) are on a first come first serve basis for free play use. To be eligible to reserve a court, you must be an organized on-campus group (i.e. Large ward activities (not Home Evening groups), Societies, Student Activities, etc.). Racquetball Courts

Location: Lower west end of the Hart Building, behind the Fitness Center.

Rules for the Racquetball Courts:

  1. Racquetball court reservation times are from 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.   

  2. Reservations can be made by telephone (496-7480) or in person at the Hart Equipment Room (Hart 202).  Reservations must be made on the same day that you are planning to play. 

  3. Participants are only allowed to reserve one racquetball court per person per day.

  4. Reservations are done hourly, starting with a new reservation each hour, on the hour.

  5. There is not a charge for failing to show up for your reserved time. However, courts will be forfeited at 10 minutes after the hour.

Tennis Courts

Tennis Courts can be found inside and outside. The indoor tennis courts may be set up in the BYU-Idaho Center court space, if you would like to play tennis please inform the students who are working in the equipment room and they will set up a court for you.  The outdoor tennis courts are located across the street on the west side of the Hart Building.  There are two courts there.

Indoor Track | Outdoor Track

BYU-Idaho offers an indoor and an outdoor track for all training purposes. The Indoor track can be found on the 2nd floor of the BYU-Idaho Center. The outdoor track can be found directly north of the Hart Building. Rules and guidelines for the tracks are listed below: 


Indoor Track Rules:

  • Approved exercise clothing required after 7:30 AM.
  • No chewing gum or spitting on the track.
  • Do not stand on track to watch sports below.
  • Shoes must be worn at all times.
  • Community walking is Monday through Saturday, 5:00 - 7:30 AM.

Traffic Rules:

  1. Monday & Tuesday traffic moves clockwise.
  2. Wednesday & Thursday traffic moves counter clockwise.
  3. Friday & Saturday traffic moves clockwise.
  4. Outside two lanes for runners and joggers.
  5. Inside two lanes for walkers and strollers.


  • Modest exercise clothing required

  • Shoes must be worn at all times
  • Track open from 5:00 AM - 11:00 PM
