Never used Microsoft Powerpoint before? Here are some great tutorials created by Microsoft that will teach you the basics of spreadsheets: Microsoft Powerpoint 2007 Tutorials.

Specific Tasks for the TCA

Create a presentation to use with your students about the Civil War. The presentation should look identical to the example shown on the right (same layout, colors, font, etc). You can use the content for the presentation provided in the link above (to help you save time). When you are finished, save your presentation as a file called "civil_war.ppt". Make sure you include the following elements:

  • A picture of Lincoln and a picture of Davis from the links provided
  • Provide the proper links to the images you use
  • Any design with a green background
  • All title text in white Trebuchet
  • All body text in yellow Times New Roman
  • Slide transitions "wipe down" slow
  • Animation effects that bring images into the slide from the right and left as shown in example
  • An audio clip with clapping at the end of the presentation
  • Automatic slide transitions
  • Audio narration of the presentation
  • One additional item. [Since technology proficiency includes the ability to find help when you need it, on the assessment you will be asked to demonstrate one additional skill. You will not know what that skill is until you come to take the assessment. If you do not know how to do the skill, you may use any helps built in to the presentation program. You will also be able to use any website (msn.com, google.com, wikipedia.com, etc.). You will not be able to ask another person (friend, relative, lab assistant, etc.) by any means (chat, email, cell phone, face-to-face, etc.).]
