Department Overview

The goal of the Academic Technology Services department is to implement educational technology into the learning model. We achieve this by offereing hands on training and consulting over the phone and in person for a vaiety of campus technologies. Our department also provides classroom audio visual support, including lecture capture. We assess and create instructional materials and we help introduce new technologies for classroom applications.

"I believe that at BYU-Idaho, we must learn to use new technologies and develop methods, materials, programs, and concepts that not only can be applied to our students on and off our campus, but also can be effectively and efficiently applied by others across the Church and, indeed, across the world." -Kim B. Clark

Student Technology Center (STC)

The Student Technology Center (STC) exists to help students with technological questions and to assist students with various technology-oriented assignments. To accomplish this task, the STC works with faculty members to better understand the technological needs for the various assignments. The STC student staff will then learn these technologies to become a resource for the faculty in helping the students with their technology assignments. The STC can assist students with I-Learn, photos, video and audio editing, design projects, word processing, presentation, spreadsheets, and other academic computer programs and hardware.

Faculty Technology Center (FTC)

Need help setting up your courses in I-Learn?
We can either teach you how to set up your courses in I-Learn through hands-on training, or we can save you time by doing it for you. Some instructors prefer setting things up by themselves so they can ultimately understand how to do so in the future. Others want to save time by having us do it. We're OK either way. Our goal is to make your life easier.
Need quick hands-on help using I-Learn?
An I-Learn Service Representative (ISR) is assigned to each academic department on campus. ISRs are student employees who are experienced with the ins and outs of I-Learn. They are here to help you and your TAs get up to speed with I-Learn.
Need training for software applications?
We can arrange for individual, group, or department training sessions customized to your interests and needs. The Faculty Technology Center is the place for all your technology training needs. We can train faculty to use technology or we can simply give them a finished product. We offer services for most campus technologies. Faculty members can either walk in to MCK 355 any time between 8am and 6pm or call us at x7230 to receive phone help or to request an office visit from your I-Learn Service Representative (ISR). Our student employees are always ready to help.
