Campus Interviews

Campus Interview Procedures

Many school superintendents and personnel officials visit BYU-Idaho Teacher Career Services to interview and select prospective teachers to work in their districts. Most of these interviews are held from February through April with some interviews being held during the summer. There may also be interviewing for mid-year openings in late November and early December.

Signing up for Interviews

As soon as the e-mail is sent to faculty and students, students who are registered with Teacher Placement Services may begin selecting interview times. Most appointments are 20-30 minutes in length. Please write down your appointment times and dates so you don't miss any interviews. Copies of placement files for candidates with interviews are prepared for the interviewer at no cost to the candidate.

No Shows

If for some reason you can't make an appointment you have scheduled, notify Teacher Career Services immediately. We do not cancel appointments after 12:00 noon the day before the interview except in cases of extreme emergency. Failure to meet appointments without reasonable justification or prior notice will result in interviewing privileges being suspended.

Follow-Up

Follow-up can make the difference as to whether you get the job or not. After sending applications, resumes, and placement files, call to make sure the material arrived. This may be a good time to set up an interview appointment if one has not already been scheduled. After interviewing, be sure to send a thank-you letter letting the employer know how you felt about the interview. You can either indicate your continued interest in the position or indicate you are looking for something different. Be polite, tactful, and enthusiastic.

Student

Do not limit your job search to campus interviews only. Watch the job listing boards, web pages, and contact employers in whom you are interested. Also, many good positions are never advertised.
