BYU-Idaho is committed to providing a safe work place for
individuals working in university facilities, whether they be full-time, part-time, faculty,
staff, or students. A major component of providing a safe work place lies in
training. The University Safety Office will do all that it can to assist departments
with training. However, the responsibility to provide employee
training lies primarily with individual supervisors. Departmental
supervisors also have a responsibility to ensure that all employees within their area have
been adequately trained in regards to work and personal safety.
A variety of Safety Training courses have been
placed on the university Black Board system. Contact safety office
personnel at extension 2457 or 2481 for more information related to Black
Board training.
The Policies and Procedures section of the Safety
Web Page lists a variety of safety topics in the first column.
Clicking on an underlined topic will take you to the comprehensive policy
that deals with the respective topic. The third column on the safety
topics page indicates if a Safety Training Video
is associated with the specific topic. These videos are available
from the Safety Office (496-2414 or e-mail gilbertb@byui.edu).
The fourth column indicates if an on-line power point presentation is
available for the respective topic. Clicking on the word "power
point" in the same row as the topic will take you to the power point
presentation which can be viewed on-line. The power point
presentations are licensed for the use of the BYU-Idaho Safety Office for
the training of university employees and may not be copied, transferred,
displayed or used for any other purpose.
Safety Office personnel are available to conduct departmental or
individual training relative to any of the listed safety topics upon
request. Please contact the safety
office with your request or with any questions regarding information
on the Safety Web Page.
