What Can I Do?

There are many opportunities to involve yourself in the recycling effort. They include:

Be aware of what you throw away.

BYU - Idaho recycling efforts include recycling of paper, newspaper, batteries, oil, and compost. Small containers for regular paper are placed in all of the offices throughout campus or can be purchased from Stores and Receiving. Items which are not recyclable and thrown into these containers may contaminate the whole container or at least reduce the cost effectiveness of the recycling program. Information about what can be recycled may be listed on the container for easy reference.

Newspaper containers to recycle the already read "Scroll" are located in strategic areas and picked up by students workers.

Be aware of where you throw away garbage.

Some recycling containers may look like garbage cans with a big white recycling symbol on them. One of the biggest deterrents of a successful program is "contaminating" recyclable material by throwing away non-recyclable products in the same container.

Encourage peers to recycle properly.

The positive or negative efforts of one person can have an affect on the success of the program.
