JUVENILE CORRECTIONS RESEARCH INTERNSHIP

 

IDAHO JUVENILE CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENT

 

This internship provides an opportunity each track for six select BYU-I psychology majors to work closely with Monty Prow (MPA, CAPM) who is currently working with the state of Idaho.  This interns will analyses and report research for the state of Idaho Juvenile Corrections Centers.  This is a rather unique opportunity for the intern to develop research skills that will improve the life of Idaho citizens.

 

CORE REQUIREMENTS

Create an end product: Projects assigned to the intern(s) will be approached from a psychological research perspective where the intern(s) will actually create an end product to be used in real life to improve the state of Idaho Juvenile Corrections Centers.

 

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The internship requires a minimum of 3 credits (about 10 hours a week), and a maximum of 6 credits.

 

The projects will be done at BYU-Idaho; however, the intern should be willing to travel to Boise to present their findings if need be.

 

Recommended prerequisites:

  • 1. Psych 302
  • 2. Psych 378, along with any other statistical courses a plus but not required

  • Letters of recommendation for application to graduate school can be provided if requested, but are dependent upon individual performance during their internship.
