  • Develop a basic understanding of the operations function within an organization and how it relates with other business functions. 
  • Understand the purposes and basic tools used in operations to evaluate: product design, firm location, and layout strategies to improve efficiency.
  • Understand the basic qualitative and quantitative tools, decision analysis, process analysis, forecasting and planning used in operations and improve efficiency and customer service.
  • Understand the importance of quality and how the basic quality tools can be used to measure and improve quality.
  • Understand the importance of effectively coordinating supply and demand activities among upstream and downstream supply chain partners.

Topics covered operations strategy, project management, forecasting, process analysis, sourcing, and distribution management. Excel tutorials, web-based simulations, and case studies will play an important and significant role throughout the course.
