Students urged to enable Christ’s Atonement

Carolyn J. Rasmus, a member of the Sunday School General Board for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, urged Brigham Young University-Idaho students at devotional on Tuesday to enable Christ’s Atonement in their lives.
Sister Rasmus explained that members of the Church have a tendency to believe they have to do everything alone: “I know that nothing is further from the truth for I have repeatedly experienced the enabling power promised by the Savior, but I so easily forget and am slow to remember.”
Rasmus warned that Satan doesn’t want members of the Church to understand the enabling power of the Atonement. “He knows that when we understand the enabling power of the Atonement, we will be changed.”
“Christ will heal our feelings of fear, distrust, anger, self-doubt, sorrow, discouragement, and inadequacy,” she explained.
Explaining further, Sister Rasmus counseled students to remember that Christ is mindful of them.
“He knows you, He knows your challenges and circumstances. Look to Him, pray to the Father through Him…. Ask with an honest and believing heart for His help,” she said.
Posing a question to the students, Sister Rasmus asked, “Do we fully understand how sincere the Savior is when He offers to help us? He stands ever ready to have us come unto Him that He might strengthen us and embrace us in the arms of His love.”
In conclusion Rasmus urged students that whenever they feel troubled, unsure or afraid to remember all He has promised to do for them. “Christ stands ever ready to respond to our feelings. He constantly offers us His comfort, peace, hope, love and strength.”
