"We are not bound by tradition, nor are we limited to our own understanding or to the wisdom of men. In short, this is a very unusual university."

Up-and-coming LDS vocalists to perform at Education Week concert
Writer: Don Sparhawk and Colby Flint
Up-and-coming LDS vocalists Daniel Beck and Missy Babcock will team up for a night of popular and inspirational music on July 30, the opening day of Brigham Young University-Idaho’s Education Week.
Beck released his first CD in November 2008. He is known for appearances in the “Liken the Scriptures” video series and was featured in Especially for Youth’s 2007 and 2008 albums. He also performed the part of John the Beloved in Kenneth Cope’s “Son of Man Project,” not yet released.
Babcock, a Rexburg resident, has sung with the Utah State University Jazz Choir and Sunburst Singers. She has performed in the popular Glenn Miller big band shows in Logan, Utah, and as the soloist for the Crestmark Orchestra. She sang with the BYU-Idaho jazz faculty combo, Swingset, for several years and now sings with a vocal group called Singcopation. Babcock recently won a contest on www.yourldsneighborhood.com and will record a song for the “Best of the Jukebox” CD, available later this year.
In their first concert together, Beck and Babcock will perform Thursday, July 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kirkham Auditorium. Tickets are $8 for the general public and $4 for BYU-Idaho students. Tickets are available at the Spencer W. Kimball Ticket Office, by calling 496-2230, or online at www.byui.edu/tickets.
