Bishop Richard C. Edgley to speak at Spring Commencement

Bishop Richard C. Edgley, first counselor in the Presiding Bishopric of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be the Brigham Young University–Idaho Spring Commencement speaker on July 23.
Bishop Edgley was called to serve in the Presiding Bishopric in October 1992. Prior to that, he served as managing director of the Church’s Finance and Records Department for 12 years. He has also served as a full-time missionary in the Eastern United States, bishop in the Boston area, counselor in the Minneapolis Minnesota Stake Presidency, and president of the Centerville Utah North Stake. He and his wife, Pauline, have six children and 16 grandchildren.
Elder Paul V. Johnson, commissioner of the Church Educational System, will also be in attendance at the event. He was called as commissioner in August 2008. Before being called as commissioner, he served as a member of the Chile Area Presidency and served as the CES administrator of Religious, Elementary and Secondary Education.
Complimentary tickets for the ceremony will be available at the BYU–Idaho Ticket Office starting July 20. Each graduate will be allotted three tickets for guests. Standby tickets will also be available. Media tickets may be available upon request. Commencement will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the John W. Hart Auditorium.
