"We are not bound by tradition, nor are we limited to our own understanding or to the wisdom of men. In short, this is a very unusual university."

BYU Vocal Point to Perform at BYU-Idaho
Vocal Point, Brigham Young University’s nine-man contemporary a cappella group, will perform Saturday, Jan. 31 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hart Auditorium at BYU–Idaho. The show combines harmony, humor and vocal percussion into an exciting and unique musical style called “maximum a cappella.”
Tickets are $8 for the general public and $4 for BYU–Idaho students. They are available online at www.byui.edu/tickets, at the BYU–Idaho Ticket Office or by calling 496-2230.
After a stunning performance at Lincoln Center in New York City in April 2006, Vocal Point became the champion of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella.
The nine voices of Vocal Point extend the musical possibilities far beyond the capabilities of a traditional four-part quartet. The ensemble does not use any musical instruments; instead, they adapt a song’s complex instrumentation into an original vocal recreation. Audience members have been known to mistake the complex sounds for musical instruments during a performance.
Vocal Point’s varied repertoire includes rock, pop, country, jazz and R&B.
