Organist Ken Cowan to perform on BYU-Idaho Ruffatti organ
Organist Ken Cowan will perform a recital on the Ruffatti organ at BYU-Idaho Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the Barrus Concert Hall at BYU-Idaho in Rexburg.
Tickets for the Center Stage Performing Arts Series concert can be purchased from the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office by calling 496-2230 or online at www.byui.edu/tickets. Tickets are $12 for the general public and $5 for BYU-Idaho students and available beginning Sept. 29.
BYU-Idaho and community organ students and teachers are invited to a free master class will be held Thursday, October, 16 from 9-11 a.m. in Barrus Concert Hall.
Cowan has won numerous awards, including first prizes at the Royal Canadian College of Organists National Competition and the Yale Institute of Sacred Music National Competition. Currently he serves as assistant professor of organ at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J., where he is the only full-time organ teacher and maintains a full studio of organ students.
A native of Thorold, Ontario, Cowan received the master's degree and artist diploma from the Yale Institute of Sacred Music, studying organ with Thomas Murray. Prior to attending Yale, he graduated with a bachelor of music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia where he studied with John Weaver.
