The Brigham Young University-Idaho community is once again invited to take part as participants and volunteers in the annual Teton Dam Marathon. This year's marathon will be held Saturday, June 14 in Rexburg. Events include the Teton Dam Marathon, Half-Marathon, Relay, 10k, 5k and Family Fun Run.
Marathon officials are looking for volunteers for the event to help with registration, shirt and packet pick-up, handing out water and fruit, traffic control, information booth, course set-up and take-down, and finish line duties. Around 250 volunteers are needed.
"One of our major sources for volunteers is the BYU-Idaho student body. We receive a lot of help from the service groups there," said Ben Eaton, Community Affairs Coordinator for the City of Rexburg. Those interested in volunteering should contact him at 716-1333.
Early registration for runners is open now through Saturday, May 31. Late registration begins Sunday, June 1 and continues through Wednesday, June 11. Late registrants are not guaranteed a spot in the race or a race shirt, and a $10 fee will be added to their entry fee. Registration forms as well as additional information on the event can be found online at www.dammarathon.com.
As part of the event, the Teton Dam Races have set a goal to raise $6,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Information for donations can be found at www.dammarathon.com.
