Apostle to speak at BYU-Idaho winter
commencement exercises
More than 1,400 Brigham Young University-Idaho students will receive diplomas at winter commencement exercises to be held Friday, April 11 at 9:00 a.m. in the Hart Auditorium. Elder M. Russell Ballard, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be the featured speaker.
Tickets are required to attend commencement in the Hart Auditorium. Individual college convocations will be held on Thursday, April 10 at 7:00 p.m. and Friday, April 11 at 11:00 a.m. at locations across campus. Tickets are not required to attend. Information about convocation locations and other graduation events is available online at www.byui.edu/graduation.
A total of 1,411 students will receive diplomas at April commencement. Of those, 529 are males and 882 are females. The university will award 1,238 bachelor's degrees and 174 associate degrees. About half the graduates, 626, are married, and 609 have served as missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The youngest graduate, McKenzie Jo Mayne, 18, will receive an associate degree. The oldest graduate, John S. Dexter, 61, will receive a bachelor's degree.
Elder Ballard was called as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in October 1985. He has served the Church as a bishop, stake high councilor, president of the Canada Toronto Mission, member of the First Quorum of the Seventy, and member of the Presidency of the First Quorum of the Seventy.

It is the largest private university in Idaho, with about 13,000 students enrolled for Winter Semester 2008.
