BYU-Idaho announces changes
to administrative structure
As part of its continuing course of progress and development, Brigham Young University-Idaho announces a number of changes to the administrative structure of the institution.
Fenton L. Broadhead, who currently serves as Dean of the College of Business and Communication, has been named Academic Vice President. Broadhead replaces Max L. Checketts, who is leaving BYU-Idaho to serve as Academic Vice President at BYU-Hawaii.
Henry J. Eyring, who currently serves an Associate Academic Vice President, has been named to the newly created post of Advancement Vice President. In this capacity, Eyring will oversee University Relations, Alumni Relations, and LDS Philanthropies. He also will play a key role in moving forward strategic initiatives in the university.
Eyring will be replaced by Clark Gilbert, who currently serves as Managing Director of Student Activities and Peer Instruction. In his new responsibilities as an Associate Academic Vice President for Educational Resources and Development, Gilbert will oversee online education, curriculum development, Continuing Education, peer instruction, and the implementation of the BYU-Idaho Learning Model.
Derek Fay, who currently serves as Director of Enrichment Activities in the Student Activities Program, will replace Gilbert as Managing Director of Student Activities and Peer Instruction. Justin Garner, who currently serves as Director of Physical Activities, will now serve as Director of Activities.
Two new college deans also have been named. Robyn Bergstrom, who currently serves as Associate Dean of the College of Business and Communication, will replace Fenton L. Broadhead as Dean. John J. Ivers, who currently serves as Chair of the Department of Foreign Language, has been named Dean of the College of Language and Letters. Ivers replaces Rod Keller.
Eyring, Gilbert, Fay and Garner assume their new responsibilities immediately. Broadhead and Bergstrom will begin their new assignments at the conclusion of Winter Semester 2008. Ivers' new assignment will begin in August 2008 as part of the regular rotation of academic deans at the university.

The university, which is affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, offers both baccalaureate and associate degrees; integrated degrees and internships that are tailored to fit students' interests; a year-round track system allowing more students to attend; and an extensive Student Activities Program that provides leadership and growth experiences. It is the largest private university in Idaho, with about 13,000 students enrolled for Winter Semester 2008.
