Upcoming BYU-Idaho forum to focus on in-class experiences with the new Learning Model

In-class experiences with the new Brigham Young University-Idaho Learning Model will be the focus of a campus forum scheduled for Thursday, February 21 at 2:00 p.m. in the Taylor Chapel.

Ross Baron and Stan Kivett, both instructors in the BYU-Idaho Department of Religious Education, will be the featured speakers. Their presentation will look at how students can make the most of in-class experiences and apply the Learning Model in their studies.

Baron earned a bachelor's degree from BYU in finance, and master's and doctorate degrees in religion and social ethics from the University of Southern California. He joined BYU-Idaho in 2005 after 12 years as an Institute director and coordinator.

Kivett attended Arizona State University, where he received a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in learning technologies. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in instructional design. Kivett worked for the Church Educational System as an instructor and administrator in Arizona and North Carolina before joining the Religious Education Department faculty at BYU-Idaho.

University Forums are held monthly to broaden the understanding of students. Leading experts of general interest are invited to speak and often take time to give master classes while they are on campus.

University Forums are open to the public and are broadcast on KBYI-FM 100.5. They are normally scheduled on the third Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the Taylor Chapel with some adjustments due to speaker availability.
