"We are not bound by tradition, nor are we limited to our own understanding or to the wisdom of men. In short, this is a very unusual university."

Grammy-winning Ying Quartet to perform
at BYU-Idaho
The internationally acclaimed Ying Quartet will perform October 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Barrus Concert Hall of the Snow Center for the Performing Arts at BYU-Idaho in Rexburg.
Presented by the Center Stage Performing Arts Series, the string quartet will present different programs each night. They will perform pieces by Franz Joseph Haydn and Maurice Ravel and a selection of Chinese-American works on Oct. 10, and pieces by Ludwig van Beethoven and Igor Stravinsky on Oct. 11.
The Ying siblings began their career as an ensemble in 1992 and last appeared at BYU-Idaho in 2000. They won the 2006 Grammy Award in the Best Classical Crossover Category.
While on the BYU-Idaho campus, the Yings will spend four days coaching student quartets.
"It's always a boost to have a professional string quartet work with our students," said Ted Ashton, music faculty member at BYU-Idaho. "The Ying Quartet relates very well to students. This will be a highly motivational experience for our students."
Tickets for the concert can be purchased from the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office by calling 496-2230 or online at www.byui.edu/tickets. Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for BYU-Idaho students.
