Quintet of the Americas to perform at
BYU-Idaho

 

Quintet of the Americas from New York City will perform a concert in the Barrus Concert Hall at BYU-Idaho in Rexburg on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m.

 

Tickets for the Center Stage concert can be purchased from the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office by calling 496-2230 or online at www.byui.edu/tickets. Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for BYU-Idaho students.

 

Quintet of the Americas is one of the Western Hemisphere's finest chamber ensembles. Currently in residence at NYU Steinhardt in New York City, the quintet has long been recognized as a leading interpreter of folk and contemporary wind quintet music, from South American tangos, choros and habaneras, to original works using Native American instruments including the Sioux courtship flute, conch shell, ceremonial drums, flutes and maracas, Colombian gaitas, and the pig.

 

Members of the quintet, including Sato Moughalian on flute, Matt Sullivan on oboe, Ed Gilmore on clarinet, Laura Koepke on bassoon and Barbara Oldham on French horn, are each accomplished musicians and teachers.
