BYU-Idaho announces fall performing arts series

The Center Stage Performing Arts Series at Brigham Young University-Idaho has announced its fall line-up of shows.

 

A brochure listing all performing arts events at BYU-Idaho is available at the Kimball Ticket Office, the Alumni Center on Main Street and the Rexburg Chamber of Commerce, or by calling 496-1150. Season tickets with a 25 percent discount may also be ordered from the Ticket Office or over the Internet at www.byui.edu/tickets.

 

The Center Stage season opens Sept. 15 with Acappella Live!, a concert featuring two popular acappella groups, Toxic Audio and T Minus 5. Juilliard School organist Paul Jacobs will perform on the Ruffatti organ Sept. 18, followed by the Side Street Strutters from Disneyland Sept. 28.

 

October will feature the Quintet of the Americas Oct. 3, the Ying String Quartet Oct. 10 and 11, Gypsy fiddle music by ZUM Oct. 17 and contemporary piano by William Joseph and his band on Oct. 27.

 

The national tour of "Music from the Crooked Road: Mountain Music of Virginia" will perform Nov. 3. Christmas in the Snow featuring BYU-Idaho choral groups will be Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. The BYU-Idaho Symphony Orchestra will perform Mahler's Third Symphony December 7-8. Although not retiring from teaching, Kevin Call will conclude his 24-year tenure as conductor of the school's orchestra with these performances.

 

The BYU-Idaho Department of Theatre will present two shows this fall, "Wait Until Dark" in late October, and Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew" in late November and early December.
