Music Department faculty member Ryan Nielsen will present a recital on Saturday, June 23 at 12:00 p.m. in the Snow Recital Hall. Nielsen, along with pianist Dallas Heaton, will present a program featuring the lyricism of the classical trumpet.

"The trumpet is often thought of as a loud instrument," Nielsen said. "This recital showcases the melodic capacities of the trumpet. Even the fast and adventurous portions of each work will send you away humming unforgettable melodies." The pieces include Armenian folk tunes, Irish lullabies, and the music of court dances in Europe. They will perform works by Arutunian, Ewazen, Fasch, and Dello Joio.

The BYU-Idaho University Orchestra will present its summer concert Thursday, June 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Barrus Concert Hall. The performance will feature several instrumental soloists, including Stephen Allen and Cheryl Hansen of the Music Department in the appealing Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saens.
