"We are not bound by tradition, nor are we limited to our own understanding or to the wisdom of men. In short, this is a very unusual university."

Ryan Shupe & the RubberBand to play at BYU-Idaho
Ryan Shupe & the RubberBand will perform at BYU-Idaho in Rexburg on Saturday, June 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hart Auditorium.
Tickets for the Center Stage concert are $10 for the general public and $5 for BYU-Idaho students. Tickets may be purchased at the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office by calling 496-2230, or online at www.byui.edu/tickets.
The band features Ryan Shupe on lead vocals, fiddle, mandolin and guitar. Shupe started playing violin at the age of 5 and since then has added the guitar and mandolin. His groups' music is described as bluegrass meets rock, a cross between the Dave Matthews Band and the Dixie Chicks.
After performing with a variety of groups, he formed his own Utah-based band and signed with Capitol Records about two years ago. Since then, they have produced an album called "Dream Big," which climbed to No. 23 on the country-western charts, getting radio airplay around the country.
By 2006 their video "Banjo Boy" was nominated for Great American Countries top 50 videos of the year. They recently did a fund-raiser at Utah State University for the family featured in "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" filmed in Logan in November. Last year they also played on the main stage at the Telluride festival in Colorado.
