George Dyer to sing Broadway music at BYU-Idaho
George Dyer will perform a night of Broadway hits Friday, May 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kirkham Auditorium at BYU-Idaho in Rexburg.
Tickets can be purchased from the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office by calling 496-2230 or online at www.byui.edu/tickets. Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for BYU-Idaho students.
The operatic tenor made his professional singing debut in 1996 with the New York City Opera and has since been a regular guest with opera companies throughout North America. He will be joined on stage by soprano Jenny Jordan Frogley and accompanied by pianist Lawrence Gee.
Dyer has been a featured soloist with many prestigious musical companies, including the Utah Opera, Opera Columbus, Edmonton Opera, Austin Lyric Opera, Atlanta Opera, Kansas City Lyric, Hawaii Opera Theater and Piedmont Opera. Additionally, he has been an artist with several symphonies, sharing the stage with the Utah Symphony, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Toledo Symphony, the Krakow Symphony and the Liverpool Royal Philharmonic.
He has been a guest with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on several of their broadcasts of "Music and the Spoken Word." Dyer is an accomplished recording artist who has recorded two made-for-TV concerts in Jerusalem for Lex de Azevedo's oratorios on the life of Christ, titled "Gloria" and "Hosanna." He has also two solo sacred CD recordings.
This past year he made his film debut in two Lightstone Studios musicals in the "Liken the Scriptures" video series, as King Darius in "Daniel and the Lions" and Chancellor Nimrod and Superintendent Dormin in "Samuel the Lamanite."
