"We are not bound by tradition, nor are we limited to our own understanding or to the wisdom of men. In short, this is a very unusual university."

Spirit Week Spectacular to feature
more than 500 BYU-Idaho performers
The Spirit Week Spectacular will showcase more than 500 students in a night of music and dance Saturday, Oct. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hart Auditorium at Brigham Young University-Idaho.
Tickets are $6 for the general public and $3 for BYU-Idaho students. They can be purchased at the BYU-Idaho ticket office, by calling 496-2230 or online at www.byui.edu/tickets.
This year's theme is "A Heritage in Zion," with performances centered on the happiness, peace and blessings of becoming one, said Kevin Brower, a music department faculty member who is organizing the event for the College of Performing and Visual Arts.
"This year's Spirit Week Spectacular focuses on the expression of gratitude for the joy and hope we enjoy because of our heritage," Brower said.
The showcase of talent includes the Symphony Orchestra, RixStix Percussion Ensemble, Collegiate Singers, Men's Choir, Women's Choir, Vocal Union, Dance Alliance and Viking Station Bluegrass Band.
"I am always excited for this event because it is another evidence of the campus community working together to produce something ‘praiseworthy and of good report.' In addition, it represents students from diverse backgrounds, experience, and interests," Brower said. "Those performing include a cross section of campus life and majors. It is truly a representation of some of the best aspects of BYU-Idaho."
