BYU-Idaho president Kim B. Clark to visit Boise, will meet with state officials and business leaders

 

Brigham Young University-Idaho president Kim B. Clark will make a two-day visit to Boise this week in an effort to strengthen relationships with state government and business leaders as well as alumni and friends of the university.

 

"This is a unique opportunity for BYU-Idaho to connect with the Boise community," President Clark said. "Positive interaction with state officials and business leaders is very important to the university. This trip will help us enhance those relationships and I'm looking forward to it."

 

On Thursday, September 21, President Clark will visit with Governor Jim Risch. He will also meet with Roger Madsen, director of the Idaho Department of Commerce and Labor, and Pat Takasugi, director of the Idaho Department of Agriculture, to discuss internship and employment opportunities for BYU-Idaho students. Additionally, President Clark will meet with Dr. Bob Kustra, president of Boise State University.

 

Also on Thursday, President Clark will speak at a luncheon sponsored by the Boise chapter of the BYU Management Society, an organization of alumni and friends of the BYU Marriott School of Management.

 

That evening, President Clark will speak at a dinner for BYU-Idaho alumni living in the Boise area. He will then appear a guest on a live broadcast of Dialogue, the public affairs program produced by Idaho Public Television. The program will air at 8:30 p.m. on KAID Channel 4 in Boise and KISU Channel 10 in the Rexburg-Idaho Falls area.

 

On Friday, September 22, President Clark will be the featured speaker at a forum held by the City Club of Boise and will discuss BYU-Idaho's history, its place in higher education in Idaho, and its relationship with the Boise area. He will also meet with leaders of Qwest, Boise Cascade, and Simplot to discuss internship and employment opportunities for BYU-Idaho students.

 

President Clark began his service at BYU-Idaho in the fall of 2005. Prior to his appointment as president, he served as dean of the Harvard Business School. He joined the HBS faculty in 1978. President Clark earned bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees in economics from Harvard University. He and his wife Sue are the parents of seven children and grandparents of nine grandchildren.
