Country singer Billy Dean to join Thurl Bailey,
Marvin Goldstein and Kirby Heyborne on stage
Named after a CD by the same name, the "Friends and Brothers" concert at Brigham Young University-Idaho will feature country singer Billy Dean, basketball-player-turned singer Thurl Bailey, pianist Marvin Goldstein and actor-singer Kirby Heyborne.
The all-male concert will be presented in the Hart Auditorium at BYU-Idaho by the Center Stage Performing Arts Series on Friday, Sept. 22, at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for BYU-Idaho students. A preshow dinner at 6 p.m. is an additional $12.
Billy Dean's popularity took a leap recently with his hit song "Let Them Be Little" reaching the Top 10 on the country music charts. Three of his albums have been certified gold, and his self-titled 1991 effort earned platinum status.
Thurl Bailey played 16 years of professional basketball and now serves as a broadcast analyst for the Utah Jazz, motivational speaker and award-winning singer.
He attended North Carolina State University on a basketball scholarship and helped lead the Wolfpack to the 1983 NCAA Championship. Among his many awards are included the 2000 Pearl Awards for Best Contemporary Recording and Best New Artist of the Year.
Latter-day Saint pianist Marvin Goldstein has recorded more than 30 CDs and published 15 piano solo arrangement books during his career. He began his piano musical training at age 9 and by age 18 was awarded a music scholarship to Tel Aviv University School of Music in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Kirby Heyborne is a popular singer and comedian, and has starred in such LDS movies as the "The R.M." and "The Best Two Years."
