"We are not bound by tradition, nor are we limited to our own understanding or to the wisdom of men. In short, this is a very unusual university."

The Brigham Young University-Idaho community is encouraged to attend "Rexburg Unplugged" on Saturday, September 9 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event, which is free to the public, will take place on Center Street between Main Street and Carlson Avenue in downtown Rexburg. Games, music, dancing, and food will be available.
"The event has a ‘get to know Rexburg' function," said Donna Benfield, Executive Director of the Rexburg Chamber of Commerce. "It's an opportunity for local business people to welcome new BYU-Idaho students to the community."
Freebies will be offered by local businesses in different booths. For example, in the past the Riot Zone set up a miniature golf course and gave away passes for a free game of miniature golf, Benfield said. Packets of flyers from local businesses will be distributed to each participant.
Music will be provided by four bands - one playing each hour of the festivities - made up of past and present students of BYU-Idaho, Benfield said. Street vendors will also bring in fun cuisine choices.
The aim of Rexburg Unplugged is to allow BYU-Idaho students and employees to come to the business district and see what Rexburg has to offer.
This will be the third year the event has been made available to the BYU-Idaho community. For more information on Rexburg Unplugged, visit the Rexburg Chamber of Commerce Web site at http://www.rexcc.org/.
