Sizzling Strings to perform two shows at BYU-Idaho Education Week

A second show has been added for the Sizzling Strings that will perform at Brigham Young University-Idaho Thursday, June 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kirkham Auditorium as part of the Education Week and the Center Stage Performing Arts Series. Because of strong ticket sales, shows will be held at both 5 and 7:30 p.m.

Based out of Springville, Utah, the Jensen family is comprised of seven children, 12 stringed instruments and a piano. They offer fun and memorable oldies, rousing fiddling sprinkled with engaging gospel music, and classical songs providing the audience with a refreshing musical buffet of popular pieces everyone will recognize.

Tickets are $6 for the general public, $3 for BYU-Idaho students and free for Education Week participants. Tickets are available from the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office or online at www.byui.edu/tickets.

The Sizzling Strings have toured many locations throughout the western United States, including locations in Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Montana and Idaho. This past March they were honored to play for the opening ceremonies of the American String Teachers Association convention.

It all began 10 years ago as the oldest child, Joshua, now 15, began using to sticks in the backyard to play an imaginary violin. Not long after, he insisted his mother find him a violin teacher. The rest of the siblings followed their older brother’s footsteps into a world that now consists of 42 lessons per week split among the seven children.
