Some of the Brigham Young University-Idaho Music Department faculty will demonstrate their musical abilities with the Chamber Orchestra in concert on Thursday, December 8 at 8:30 p.m. in the Barrus Concert Hall.

The “Faculty Spotlight” with the BYU-Idaho Chamber Orchestra will feature four members of the music faculty. These soloists and their selections include: Daniel Kerr on the organ, playing ”Concert in F Major” by Handel; Steven Allen on the piano, presenting “Concerto for Piano and Orchestra” by Mozart; Bill Holman on clarinet, performing “Adagio for Clarinet and Strings” by Wagner; and John Lindford singing “Five Mystical Songs for Baritone Solo and Orchestra” by Vaughan Williams. The concert will open with the full Chamber Orchestra performing the “Overture to Magic Flute” by Mozart.

“The music in this concert crosses three hundred years of music history and exhibits a wide variety of styles and temperaments,” Ted Ashton, BYU-Idaho Music Department faculty member, said. “Our desire is to showcase from year to year the very talented faculty here at BYU-Idaho, as well as expose our students to a variety of solo music literature.”

Tickets for this concert cost $1 for students and $2 for non-students. This is an FA 100 event and Sunday dress is requested of those attending.
