Brigham Young University-Idaho’s RixStix Percussion Group will perform their first ever fall concert Wednesday, November 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Barrus Concert Hall.

The concert will feature the percussion ensemble, the mallet ensemble, and student solos. Music for the evening will consist of arrangements of works by Grainger, Rossini and Frosini. A few original compositions by Lynn Glasscock, Art Lippner and Emil Richards will also be played. Student performances will feature Mikkel Robb playing “Michi for Marimba” by Keiko Abe and Sheldon Kargis performing a transcription of “Leyenda”, which was originally composed for a guitar. The final student soloist is Ashley Daily, who will be performing the “Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra” by Eric Ewazen. Laura Haring McBride will accompany her.

“The students have worked hard to prepare this concert,” Dr. David Taylor of the BYU-Idaho Department of Music faculty and leader of the percussion group said. “The soloists exemplify the quality of young people we have on this campus.”

Tickets to this event cost $2 for non-students and $1 for students. Concert dress is required for those attending.
