    British flutist to entertain at BYU-Idaho
     

    REXBURG, Idaho-
     

    British flutist Trevor Wye will perform a musical program entitled “Flutes Fantastic!” Thursday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Barrus Concert Hall at Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg.

    Tickets are $8 for the general public and $2 for BYU-Idaho students and available from the BYU-Idaho Ticket Office, by calling 496-2230 or online at www.byui./edu/tickets.

    Wye’s recital will include the hilarious “48 Variations on The Carnival in Venice” for 58 flutes, some of which are electronic that he built.

    A free master class will be held in the Manwaring Center Little Theater Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 2-6 p.m.

    Wye has taught at both the Guildhall School of Music, London, and the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England.

    He is the author of the Practice Books for the Flute, which have received worldwide acclaim, have been translated into 10 other languages and have sold over 1 million copies. More recently, his biography of Marcel Moyse was published in English, German, Japanese, French and Spanish.

    Wye teaches at his flute studio in Kent, a one-year residential course for postgraduate students and travels throughout the world giving master classes and concerts including annual appearances in the United States, Europe and Japan, and at many international flute conventions.
