The Brigham Young University-Idaho musical groups Sound Alliance and Vocal Union will perform in concert Saturday, November 5 in the Kirkham Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.

These unique groups tour together every other year and have performed in Seattle, Portland, Calgary, Minneapolis and throughout western Canada, the Northwest, and upper Midwest. They feature a mix of jazz big band and jazz choir music. The program includes swing, rock/jazz fusion, neo-swing, bebop, Latin, and ballads. Familiar songs that will be played include “Unforgettable”, “The Jazz Police”, “Jump, Jive, and Wail”, “April in Paris”, and “I Got Rhythm”.

“This is quite a unique concert in the Church Education System in the sense that there is no other group like this one, combining jazz voice, choir, and big band,” Mark Watkins of the BYU-Idaho Music Department faculty said. “This concert is very entertaining and always receives loud standing ovations wherever they go.”

Admission to this event is $2 for non-students and $1 for students.
