Brigham Young University-Idaho student harpists will present a harp ensemble recital Wednesday, November 2 at the Barrus Concert Hall beginning at 7:30 p.m.

“This semester we have ten students in the harp ensemble who are hard working and talented harpists,” Shari Pack of the BYU-Idaho Music Department faculty said. ”It is very enjoyable to hear ten harps playing together.”

The group of harpists will be playing a variety of music including “Wisdom” by Handel, “Rotation” by Bach, “Somewhere Out There” by Horner, and melodies from “Pirates of Penzance” by Gilbert and Sullivan. The event will also feature two guest artists who have been members of the ensemble in the past. The first guest artist, Timmie John, will play several pieces on the lever harp including “The Windows of Paris” by Mahan. The second guest, Melody Howe, will play several pieces on the pedal harp including “Pour la Senorita” by Alberti. The evening will conclude with the ensemble playing “Hawaiian Melodies”, which includes Hawaiian dances and songs like “Aloha Oe”.

Admission to this event is free to the public.
