Kim B. Clark will be inaugurated as the fifteenth president of
Brigham Young University-Idaho on Tuesday, October 11 at 2:00
p.m. in the Hart Auditorium.
Clark’s
appointment as president was announced June 6 by President
Gordon B. Hinckley, leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints and chairman of the BYU-Idaho Board of
Trustees. “He is a man of tremendous integrity who is deeply
respected and admired,” President Hinckley said of President
Clark on the day of the announcement. “He is inclusive in his
leadership and believes in strongly developing those around him
and creating new opportunities for them to grow and succeed.”
President Clark
replaces Elder David A. Bednar, who left BYU-Idaho in November
2004 to serve as a member of the Church’s Quorum of the Twelve
Apostles. “I am tremendously excited to be joining BYU-Idaho,”
President Clark said after the announcement. “I look forward to
working with everyone in the community in facing the
opportunities that lie ahead.”
Before
accepting the invitation to lead BYU-Idaho, President Clark
served nearly 30 years on the faculty of the Harvard Business
School, including ten years as dean. He holds bachelor’s,
master’s and doctorate degrees in economics from Harvard. He
and his wife Sue are the parents of seven children.
The
inauguration ceremony will bring a number of distinguished
guests and visitors to campus, as well as family and friends of
the Clarks. Community members are invited to participate by tuning into KBYI-FM
100.5 for a live broadcast that will include special extended
coverage before and after the event.
