REXBURG, Idaho—The BYU-Idaho communication
department is hosting its first annual Communication Day Thursday, Oct. 24,
which will feature a panel discussion, workshops and a University Forum
with several prominent communicators.
Sheri
L. Dew, CEO of Deseret Book and former counselor
in the general Relief Society presidency; Matt and Jeanette Bennett,
founders of Bennett Communications; Jay Hildebrandt, anchor and vice
president of KIFI TV in Idaho Falls; Bryant Marcum, creative director for
Razor Advertising; and Don Smurthwaite, assistant
communication director of National Interagency Fire Center, will
participate in a panel discussion from 9-10:15 a.m. in Taylor Room 120.
Following
the panel discussion, workshop sessions will be held from 10:30 to 11:15
a.m. and again from 11:30 a.m.
to 12:15 p.m. The presentation
speakers, locations and topics are as follows:
Dew
will speak on “communicating with skill and spirit” in the
University Forum at 2 p.m. in the Taylor Chapel with overflow in standard
devotional locations. The forum will be broadcast live at 2 p.m. on KBYI, 100.5 FM. She will also
conduct a question-and-answer session following the forum.
All students and faculty are
invited to attend the day’s events.
