An Idaho Falls woman has been named the new president of
the BYU-Idaho/Ricks College Alumni Association.
Liz
Crandall, an alumna of 1969, has replaced Dean Mortimer of Idaho Falls, who
served as president for two years.
Crandall
commented, “The council really tries to inform the graduates about
how the school is progressing and the kinds of activities that are taking
place now.”
The
alumni association’s mission is to build and reinforce bonds between
alumni and BYU-Idaho.
She
first became a member of the council about six years ago, not even knowing
what the council was. Her parents, Reynold and Donnetta George of Idaho
Falls, had also been involved with the alumni council and encouraged her to
get involved.
When
she attended Ricks College from 1967 to 1969, she was a business education
major and was involved in the Women’s Choir, opera and intramural
sports. She and her husband, Jay, have six children ranging in age from 15
to 31. Four have graduated from the Rexburg school.
Crandall
is proud of BYU-Idaho and the progress that it has made through the years.
“It
is so fun to drive around on campus now and just see all the students
interacting,” she says. “Everyone is just so friendly to me and
to one another. I love how the students have just taken these changes and
pushed ahead.” # # #
