University Baroque Ensemble

to perform at BYU-Idaho

The BYU-Idaho University Baroque Ensemble will perform in its fall program Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Barrus Concert Hall of the Snow Center for the Performing Arts. Seating is free and concert dress is required.

The ensemble, which is performed each semester, features students on the strings, flute, harpsichord and organ performing a number of selections from 17th century Italy, says ensemble director Robert Tueller.

“I really enjoy the freedom and expressiveness of this era of music,” Tueller says. “The violin family was beginning to emerge as a dominant force in music and there’s a certain richness of sound and variety evident in this style.”

Each of the students will be featured as soloists and play a collection of music from composers Arcangelo Corelli, Biagio Marini, Giovanni Gabrielli, Carlo Farina and Antonio Vivaldi.
