The
BYU-Idaho University Orchestra and University Band will combine in a
concert Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m.
in the Barrus Concert Hall of the Snow
Center for the Performing Arts.
The performance is free and the public is welcome to attend.
Bill
Holman will conduct the University Band, which will perform a variety of
music and styles. The 55-member band will perform “Mr. Music!”
by Alfred Reed, “Caccia and Chorale” by Clifton Williams, “Handel
in the Strand” by Percy Aldridge Grainger, “Grand Serenade for
an Awful Lot of Winds and Percussion” by P.D.Q. Bach and will
conclude the concert with “Hooray for Hollywood,” a collection
of movie themes arranged by Warren Barker.
The
50-member University Orchestra, under the direction of Robert Tueller, will
feature Handel’s “Overture to The Messiah, “Rhosymedre”
by Ralph Vaughan Williams, “Rhythmic Variations on Two Ancient Hymns”
by Howard Hanson and Gustav Holst’s “Brook Green Suite.”
The
band and orchestra are non-auditioned ensembles that include mostly
non-music majors.
