A
multi-media production about Brigham Young University-Idaho will be
presented to incoming students, university employees, alumni and the
general public Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 5 p.m.
in the Hart Auditorium.
The
free program, entitled “A Light Unto the World,” will feature
about 50 students as actors, dancers and singers in the hour-long show
produced by New Student Orientation.
The
presentation will center on the legacy and heritage of the university,
including people who were instrumental in its growth and success such as
Thomas E. Ricks and Jacob Spori.
“It
will focus on the ‘spirit of Ricks’ and how it still exists,”
says NSO director Allen Jones.
Janel Jorgensen, a student from Parma
who headed up the project, says, “It talks about the past, the
present and the future. I think it will give people something to connect
with. They will come to understand the history of the school and the
sacrifice that was made.”
She
adds, “People will see what we have now and what this university can
become in the future.”
