BYU-Idaho faculty member to

perform Baroque cello concert

Cellist Robert Tueller will present a free concert Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Snow Center for the Performing Arts at Brigham Young University-Idaho.

Tueller, a faculty member of BYU-Idaho for three years, will play Baroque cello music from the 17th and 18th centuries, including sonatas and solo works by Jiacchini, Gabrielli, Antonii and Bach.

He will be assisted by music faculty member Brent Jones on the harpsichord and organ and Denson Angulo on the doublebass.

This is the second solo recital Tueller has done at BYU-Idaho that will be dedicated exclusively to Baroque music. He also performs regularly on the modern cello as a soloist and with the BYU-Idaho faculty string quartet that will perform later this semester on the Center Stage series.

“This concert will be a great opportunity for people to hear these earlier works on instruments from the Baroque period with careful attention to the performance practice of that time,” he said.

Tueller received a bachelor of music degree in cello performance at Utah State University and master’s and doctorate degrees in music from the University of Southern California.
