REXBURG,
Idaho – Brigham Young
University-Idaho’s public radio station, KBYI 100.5 FM, will begin broadcasting
its annual Christmas programming beginning Dec. 1 and extending through
Christmas week.
While
the station has been playing holiday music since its inception, this
year’s programming will be among its most extensive yet, says Dale
Hillier, program director at KBYI. This year carries the slogan
“Rediscover Christmas with KBYI.”
“This
year we’re going to be hearing more holiday music than in recent
years,” Hillier said. “We think it will be an even more
exciting package.”
While
the station will still carry their daily news broadcasts, “Morning
Edition” and “All Things Considered,” the hours from 11 a.m. to 4
p.m. will be filled with nostalgic holiday favorites pulled
from the station’s music library. The programming will focus on
traditional Christmas selections.
The
evenings will feature special productions distributed by National Public
Radio and Pubic Radio International. These specials begin at 7 p.m. each night and will include live
concert performances from around the world by such artists as the Boston
Pops and the Dale Warland Singers, as well as other memorable performances
such as Jonathan Winters’ rendition of Charles Dickens’
“A Christmas Carol.”
KBYI
will feature a special Chanukah broadcast on the final day of the Jewish
holiday, Dec. 27.
Detailed
information on the programming can be obtained by logging onto the station
web site, www.kbyi.org or by calling KBYI at 496-2907.
